• This 2,000 sq ft roof was draining into a single 3x4 downspout — only rated for 1,200 sq ft.
• The gutter ran nearly 60 feet, and because there was only one downspout, it had to be pitched all one way.
• That steep pitch caused parts of the gutter to drop below the drip edge, especially toward the far end.
• That setup can allow water to run behind the gutter, where it may enter screw holes or small cracks in the fascia — eventually causing rot if left unchecked.
